Two Killed in Accident Near Glassboro on Thursday

Two people were killed in a car accident on Thursday near Glassboro, New Jersey. The accident occurred on Route 55 near mile marker 34.5 at approximately 6:30 p.m. According to the New Jersey State Police, a 2005 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Route 55 when it crossed the center line and struck a 2017 Toyota Camry that was traveling northbound.

The driver of the Honda, 22-year-old Michael Jones of Glassboro, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, 35-year-old Jennifer Smith of Pitman, was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she later died. A passenger in the Toyota, 30-year-old Jessica Johnson of Pitman, was also taken to Cooper University Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. However, police believe that speed may have been a factor. Route 55 was closed for several hours while police investigated the accident. The road has since been reopened.
