Brazil Wins Copa America Femenina Title
Debinha's Penalty Earns Brazil Fourth Consecutive Championship
Hosts Colombia Fall 1-0 in Bucaramanga
Brazil's Debinha scored a first-half penalty to earn her team their fourth successive Copa America Femenina title as they defeated hosts Colombia 1-0 in Bucaramanga on Saturday.
In a closely contested match, Brazil took the lead in the 39th minute when Debinha converted from the spot after Colombia's Daniela Arias was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area. Colombia pushed for an equalizer in the second half but failed to find a way past the Brazilian defense.
The victory extends Brazil's dominance in the Copa America Femenina, a tournament they have now won nine times. It also marks the first time that Brazil has won the championship four times in a row.
Colombia, who were making their first appearance in the final since 2010, will be disappointed to have missed out on the title but can take heart from their performance in the tournament.
